  'Twas e'er the trembling orient blush'd;
  While shepherds watch'd their flocks by night;
  As each diurnal scene was hush'd,
  A seraph burst upon their sight,

  The seraph thus--when lo! a throng
  Countless, magnificently shin'd;
  And warbled a celestial song,
  Of sweet melodious accents join'd.
  Their conscious harps, dispens'd a strain,

to jubilant choir singing of Redeemer's love.]
